EWON welcomes the opportunity to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal people across NSW.

Today, I’m standing in Cope St, Redfern, birthplace of the urban Aboriginal civil rights movement in Australia.

This is the street where Radio Redfern was established in the 80s, laying the foundation for Koori Radio, a new voice in a new era.

Redfern Park is just down the road. This is where Paul Keating delivered his famous ‘Redfern Speech’ - parts of which are etched into the Park’s artwork created by Aboriginal artist Fiona Foley.

At EWON we are privileged to work with numerous Aboriginal communities and we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land that we draw our energy and water from.

At EWON we will be standing in solidarity this NAIDOC Week as we say: Always Was, Always Will Be……. Aboriginal Land!
